The Strokes are finally releasing new music this summer.
The rock band announced their long-awaited new album Reality awaitsconfirming in a teaser on social media on April 6 that the record will arrive this summer. This is their first studio release since the 2020s The new abnormal.
The revelation came in Strokes style. A cryptic video showing a vintage Nissan 300ZX from the 1980s flashes on the screen as guitar chords form, before the message appears: “Reality Awaits. The new album from The Strokes. Out this summer.” The clip also teases with the line: “In the flesh, it’s even sexier.”
The group, led by Julian Casablancas, has kept a relatively low profile as a group in recent years, with members focusing on side projects. Casablancas, for example, released new music with The Voidz in 2024. Still, anticipation of a full Strokes return has been building, especially after subtle hints in recent weeks.
Their latest album, The new abnormalmarked a major milestone, earning the band their first Grammy and reintroducing their signature sound to a new era of fans.
The timing couldn’t be better. With major festival appearances at Coachella, Bonnaroo and Outside Lands, the band is gearing up for a massive return to the stage.
