The Pakistan Super League hopes to go from six to eight teams after the 2025 season, PSL CEO Salman Naseer said on Thursday.
For the first time in 2016 in the United Arab Emirates due to security problems, the PSL is now organized in Pakistan, where it aims to strengthen its commercial attraction and its competitiveness.
The planned expansion comes at a key commercial stage for the PSL, with media and sponsorship rights which are on sale.
The PSL 2026 will also embrace new cities with Peshawar to organize its first exhibition game, a step towards complete PSL matches. The trophy will also embark on its first national tour, bringing the event in non -host cities.
“At the end of this year, we could get two other teams,” Naseer told local media on Thursday.
“We started at a time when no crickets occurred in Pakistan. The challenge was to bring him back.
“Now that we have successfully brought back cricket in traditional centers, the next step extends beyond these four cities (Lahore, Karachi, Rawalpindi and Multan).”
The PSL-February window of the PSL-February is now faced with competition from the SA20 of South Africa and the International League for United Arab Emirates, with its value of post-season data as rights are on sale.
“This year will be an interesting test, and with more teams, we plan a larger window,” added Naseer.
“Some of our rights are evaluated after this PSL. Many will depend on the data we collect.”
The 2025 edition should start on April 11. Islamabad United holders are the most successful PSL team with three titles.
