A four -year -old boy was killed in a road accident on Saturday after being struck by an oil tanker in the city of Baldia de Karachi, police and rescue officials confirmed.
The incident occurred near Abidabad, where the child, identified as Affan, son of Jasim, would have played and tried to cross the road when he was hit, reported Express News.
The rescue teams rushed to the scene and moved the boy’s body to Karachi civil hospital. Police said that an investigation was underway to determine the circumstances of the incident and trace the vehicle.
The authorities have not yet confirmed if the driver of the oil tanker has been placed in police custody.
Earlier this week, rabid crowds set on fire at least nine heavy vehicles overnight between Wednesday and Thursday after a Dumper hit a biker and the driver tried to escape.
Police then arrested more than a dozen people identified using video surveillance and video sequences.
Police high-ups also warned the chief of the oil owners who had come to the site of an inverted vehicle with highly armed men contesting criminal fires.
Although the situation in central districts and is under control with traditional political and religious parties urging people to respect the law, anger is high in many sensitive areas.
According to statistics from the CHHIPA Foundation, 80 lives were lost in road accidents in just 99 days this year. Among the victims, 18 were killed by trucks in Benne, 31 by trailers, 17 by oil tankers, five by Mazda Trucks and nine by accelerating the buses.
These statistics not only represent figures, but broken families – each crying for the loss of a loved one.
