“Constructive criticism is one thing, and threats, hate speeches or even disturbance during training are another – that cannot be tolerated,” said a Swiatk spokesperson.
“We take the security and security of all players and tournaments very seriously,” said Miami Open in a statement. “We constantly assess all potential threats and take all measures to respond appropriately. To ensure the effectiveness of these efforts, we do not disclose the details of our security operations.”
The World Tennis Association added: “Players’ security is our top priority. The WTA is working closely with tournaments and their safety teams on best practices for international sporting events to ensure the safety and well-being of all participants.
“There are complete security protocols in place to ensure that incidents are treated quickly and effectively. Details are not something that we discuss publicly, but we are firmly in our commitment to maintain a safe environment for players and all those who attend one of our events.”
