- Optoma unveils a new portable projector with RGB Triple Laser Technology
- The photon Go is an ultra short launch model with HD resolution
- Available from April, retail at £ 899 / € 999
The latest Optoma launch projector, the photon Go, has a lot of technology in a very small (and portable) package. Could this be one of the best portable spotlights this year?
The photon Go is a new model that seeks to combine the image quality of the triple RGB laser projectors with the convenience of a portable beamer on the go.
Thanks to its triple laser system, it is capable of reproducing “red, green and blue light sources”, rather than filtering a light source, guaranteeing strong and precise colors and a dynamic contrast ratio of 2,500,000 : 1.
As a UST (Ultra Short Throw) model), it can sit enough with the wall or screen on which it projects, with the possibility of projecting an image of 100 inches less than 25 cm from the wall.
There is no 4K capacity here – unlike the other new Optoma projector, the 5000 Lumen UHZ68LV. The photon Go marries its RGB color release with an HD / 1080p resolution, helping to maintain its price under the four -digit brand, although color performance and the convenience of its size should compensate.
Optoma tells us that the photon Go is capable of 650 lumens of brightness, which is good enough for a portable projector, although well below the thousands of lumens expected from more static house theater models.
Hot to go
However, an integrated battery and a compact design make it a projector that you can also slide into a backpack or suitcase with relative ease – a bit like the Mini Anker Projector Capsule II or the Samsung Freestyle 2nd Gen. It is practical that you move the projector between rooms, houses or camping sites on regular occasions, and allows a wide range of flexibility in the place where and how you entertain and your friends.
Meanwhile, the Google TV operating system provides access to more than 10,000 streaming applications and services, ensuring that your projector can interact with intelligent house commands and channement a range of almost unlimited content Towards the wall of your living room.
In terms of ports, you will get an HDMI 2.0 input, a USB-C power supply and outputs for USB-A and S / PDIF. You can get your hands on a model from April 2025, coming to £ 899 / € 999 (around $ 1,140 / $ 1,800 in). There is no word yet on an American launch, but I hope it will follow, because it looks great for a minimalist entertainment room.
