The Eagles of Philadelphia accepted the invitation of President Donald Trump to the White House to celebrate their super Bowl victory in 2025 against the Chiefs of Kansas City despite the contrary rumors.
The owner of the Eagles team, Jeffrey Lurie, addressed the decision to go to the White House of years after a quarrel between the players and the president for the demonstrations of the National Anthem led Trump to cancel an invitation.
“We just thought it is a secular tradition invited by the White House,” said Lurie on Wednesday, via Pro Football Talk.

“So there was no reluctance. Being celebrated in the White House is a good thing. There were special circumstances (in 2018) which were very different, and therefore it was an obvious choice and is impatiently awaiting. …
“When you grow up, and you hear about it:” Oh, the championship team was able to go to the White House “, that’s what it is. And, therefore, we have not had this opportunity and now we do it. I think we are all looking forward to.”
Lurie added that he was “completely optional” for the players and that the acceptance of the invitation was in no way political.

Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni took a similar tone on Tuesday.
“I am really excited to go there, yeah. What honor. What an honor to be able to go to the White House. Teams who have been able to win championships have been doing it for a long time, and I am really honored to go and really excited to go,” he said Via Outkick.
