Typepad announced the “difficult decision” to close in a few weeks, making it one of the many companies faced with the anger of the difficult economy and strong competition.
The blog platform should close on September 30, 2025, when access to accounts, blogs and all user content will be permanently deleted.
Users have warned that they could no longer access or export blog content after this date, they only have one month to migrate to another service.

The company has managed users assigned to a separate assistance page, detailing how they can export to alternative platforms.
Typepad uses the mobile type import format (MTIF) to generate export files, which means that users can easily import their blogs into popular platforms like WordPress.
The “difficult decision” to close the site comes after Typepad fell to the disappearance of WordPress, but at its beginnings, it was the backend for many major publications, especially Cable,, ABC, THE CBCTHE Bbc And News.
All users who pay for the platform will not have to modify their account – the invoicing will be automatically stopped, and any recent payment will be issued a refund to the pro rata.
To this song, users are invited to ensure that their payment methods in the file are up to date to ensure a transparent reimbursement.
With less than one FAQ page, those who need additional support are invited to submit a ticket from their Typepad account.
“We really appreciate your business and we apologize for any disadvantage that it could cause. Thank you for being a precious customer,” wrote the company.
Last year, Automattic made a change to Tumblr which would see that it will be executed on WordPress for many years after acquiring the microblogging site.
