The UN Secretary General, António Guterres, expressed serious concerns about the recent missile strikes from India to Pakistan, urging the two nations to exercise maximum military restraint.

The UN chief stressed that “the world cannot afford a military confrontation between India and Pakistan”, highlighting the potential for regional instability.

International leaders, including US officials, called for a de -escalation and a dialogue to prevent new conflicts.

The UN continues to closely monitor the situation, urging the two parties to prioritize peace and stability in the region.

Tensions between India and Pakistan increased sharply following a series of Indian missile attacks against Pakistani territory.

According to the Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), Lieutenant-General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, Indian forces have made air strikes on six sites inside Pakistan, including Kotli, Bahawalpur, Muzaffarabad, Bagh and Muridke.

In a press conference held early Wednesday, the CEO ISPR confirmed that eight civilians had been killed and 33 others injured in the attacks. He said the Pakistan armed forces responded with a strong and coordinated military operation in retaliation.

Security sources said Pakistan had shot down five Indian planes during the confrontation. The Indian jets would have made strikes on targets inside Pakistan while operating from Indian airspace. The sources have added that all the Pakistani aircraft involved in the response have returned safely and were fully taken into account.

India’s air strikes occurred in the middle of tensions between the two nuclear armed neighbors after the attack in the Pahalgam region, Jammu-Cachemire and Kashmir (IIOJK), led to several victims. India blamed Pakistan for the attack without providing evidence – an Islamabad accusation firmly rejected.
