Washington: US officials said on Monday that the State Department authorized the sale of $ 1.4 billion in aircraft and military equipment to the United Arab Emirates, before President Donald Trump’s visit this week.

The sale proposed to the Gulf State includes six Chinese CH-47F helicopters and other equipment for $ 1.32 billion which “will support the United States foreign and national security policy,” officials from the Department of State of the Military Political Affairs Bureau in a statement.

“Water will use these assets in research and rescue, help in the event of a disaster, humanitarian support and the operations to combat terrorism,” they said.

“The United Arab Emirates are a vital American partner for political stability and economic progress in the Middle East.”

Trump is expected to visit the oil-rich states of Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Water this week to discuss diplomatic needs in the Middle East, as well as major commercial affairs that could discuss everything, from defense and aviation to energy and artificial intelligence.

In addition to helicopters, the State Department approved the sale of $ 130 million in F-16 Fighter Jet components.

In a separate press release, the officials of the State Department declared that the F-16 parts would improve the “capacity of water to defend its sovereignty and its territorial integrity to meet its national defense requirements”.

Congress has 30 days to block the proposed sale.
