Only six weeks after the female female Stephanie Turner was disqualified and escorted by a kneeling tournament to protest against a trans opponent, she saw the man in charge of her punishment being toast during a federal audience.
The president of American fencing Damien Lehfeldt was toasted by the republican legislators of the Government Department of Effectiveness (DOGE) “Unfinmerical Play of the subcommittee: Keep men out of the audience for female sports” Wednesday.
After the hearing, Turner told PK Press Club Digital that she would devote herself and her platform to put pressure for resignations among the main leadership figures in fencing in the United States.
“I’m going to put pressure for people to resign, to be honest. I would like to see some people resign for the comments they made, especially publicly, who harass and supposed to humiliate the women, mothers and girls concerned,” said Turner.

USA Fencing provided a statement to PK Press Club Digital sending Turner’s calls to change the leadership.
“We respect Ms. Turner’s right to share her opinions. The volunteer members of the Board of Directors of USA Fencing, elected by our members, remain concentrated on the service of athletes and the satisfaction of our obligations under the Ted Stevens law and other rules of the body in direction. No change of leadership is envisaged,” said the press release.
Lehfeldt, who was assigned to appear and did not come voluntarily, made things more difficult before the audience with a series of Instagram stories that were then exploded and used against him upstairs. In an article, which became viral before the hearing, he answered a question that asked him if he was “agree” to put the disadvantaged fertiles with a simple and impertinement: “yeah”.
Then, during the hearing, Lehfeld admitted several times that he had regretted answering this way and admitted that the question required a “more nuanced” answer.

“He was under oath, but I was surprised to have admitted to having written a false answer that he published on his Instagram,” said Turner. “So, the simple admission he knows what he does and the intimidation tactics he uses online, and he knows that they were wrong, and he had not expared them until this moment, it took a hearing, an assimilated audience for him to do it, it was surprising.”
USA Fencing provided a statement to PK Press Club Digital sending publications on the social networks of its chair on Wednesday.
“Mr. Lehfeldt’s pre-increase social posts were carried out personally. Before and during the hearing, he said that the comments do not reflect the United States closing policy and expressed their regrets for any confusion that they caused,” the statement said.

However, it was only the start of things for Lehfeldt. Throughout the afternoon, he faced his just part of insults and personal comments from the members of the Republican Committee.
Representative Tim Burhcett, R-Tenn, asked Lehfeldt if he would let his daughter close “a man”. Lehfeldt suggested that it allowed it while boasting of the safety precautions of its organization.
“As long as the competitor has satisfied all the hormonal requirements and complies with politics, I agree with that,” said Lehfeldt.
Later at the hearing, representative Nancy Mace, RS.C., suggested that Lehfeldt was “not” a man for the eligibility policy between the sexes of his organization.
“Real men protect women, you are not one,” said Mace.
Mace even asked Lehfeldt to simply apologize to Turner for having punished the shooter, to whom the chair refused and stressed that Turner had received a black card for his refusal.
However, Turner was not looking for an apology.
“I want more than an excuse. I want a change in politics and I want people to start telling the truth again. And excuses are only empty words without actions for me, so I don’t know how far it would go for me,” said Turner.
The organization first promulgated its current trans-inclusion policy in 2023. It allows transgender athletes to participate in the female category at the junior and senior level after having finished a calendar year of testosterone suppression treatment. Proof of compliant hormone therapy must be provided before competition, but the organization has taken other measures to prioritize its trans competitors.
USA Fencing announced at the end of April that he was preparing to change his eligibility policy between the sexes in the aftermath of the controversy with Turner.
“In the event that the United States’s closure is forced to modify its current position in accordance with supervisory organizations or federal legislation, the new policy declares that athletes in competition in the fencing tournaments of American fences must compete according to their biological sex,” said the announcement.

The proposed update policy ensures that the female category “will be open exclusively to female athletes”. The male category “will be open to all other athletes who are otherwise eligible for competition”.
The Secretary of Education, Linda McMahon, had previously announced that the newly formed Title IX surveys The team will probe the incident involving Turner and the competitor Trans Redmond Sullivan.
Meanwhile, Turner is on an interruption of fencing the day after the controversy.
“I do not see how I can spend the money to go to a tournament and have their multiple officials that I know who are deeply against me,” said Turner. “It’s just not a fight I want to be in the middle right now, I prefer to take this fight elsewhere.”
