- Defense secretary, Pete Hegseth, confirmed $ 5.1 billion in computer savings
- They will be carried out by terminating the contracts with Accenture and others
- DOGE has now allowed DOD to save nearly $ 6 billion, says HegSeth
$ 5.1 billion in IT contracts were canceled by the Ministry of Defense (DOD) under the leadership of the Elon Musk Government Ministry (DOGE), have shown new evidence.
Defense secretary, Pete Hegseth, has signed a memorandum detailing cancellations, which mainly consisted of “consultation and other non -essential services”.
As the Musk unit suggests, the DOD also claims to have increased effectiveness by removing useless stages and duplication, allowing it to allocate liquidity to other fundamental areas of the agency’s scope, such as “better health care for our fighters and their families”.
DOD lies $ 5.1 billion in IT contracts
Tented contracts include “$ 1.8 billion in consultation contracts that the Defense Health Agency awarded to various private sector companies, a 1.4 billion dollars IT IT service contract granted to a software dealer and a $ 500 million contract for the Council of Trade Process.”
The companies concerned include Accenture, Deloitte and Booz Allen.
Hegseth also noted that a $ 500 million contract awarded to the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency for IT services has been “completely double” of the services that the Defense Information Systems Agency already provides.
The DOD also terminated 11 contracts linked to diversity, equity and inclusion, climate change and COVID-19.
Although the savings represent only a touch greater than half a hundred of the budget of $ 883.7 billion from the DOD, Musk’s objective to remove unnecessary expenses is at least commendable.
However, criticisms have argued that there are more factors to consider that the simple cost of a contract, urging the government to agree on contracts that meet its requirements with more efficiency and implement performance measures.
More broadly for the DOD, the latter announces from the reduction of $ 580 million recently confirmed to certain programs, contracts and subsidies, bringing the total race to nearly $ 6 billion in savings compatible by the DOGE.
