The United States has published a new travel council for Pakistan, urging American citizens to reconsider travel in the country due to continuous security risks, including terrorism and armed conflict potential.
In a statement, the US State Department warned that violent extremist groups continue to plan attacks, especially in the provinces of Balutchistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The opinion stressed that terrorists can strike with little or no warning, targeting various places such as transportation centers, shopping centers, military facilities, airports, universities and places of worship.
The opinion also indicated that the staff of the US government assigned to Pakistan is prohibited from attending most of the major rallies due to increased risks.
While noting that major cities and Islamabad have more robust security infrastructure, the opinion warned that the security situation in Pakistan remains fluid, the conditions that change quickly.
The warning comes in the midst of current discussions in the United States on potential travel restrictions.
Sources have revealed to Reuters that a new travel ban during examination by the Trump administration may soon prevent individuals from Pakistan and Afghanistan from entering the United States. This follows a broader assessment of the security and verification procedures for countries.
In addition, approximately 200,000 Afghans, approved for American resettlement or with pending visa requests, face uncertainty. Many are blocked in Pakistan, alongside refugees from 90 other countries, after the president of President Trump, on January 20, instituted a 90 -day freeze on refugees and foreign assistance that finances their transport.
