The former UFC star and Olympic wrestler Ben Askren remains in the hospital due to a disease that has left doctors planning a pulmonary transplant, according to his wife.
Askren’s wife Amy said in an article on Facebook on Tuesday that her husband had been in “Limbo” with “good” and “bad” days, which caused another update.
“I have not shared an update because Ben has been in limbo for some time and I hoped to wake him up and be the one who decides what to share …”, she wrote on Facebook.

“Ben is always on a fan and an ECMO to support him while he heals. There are good days and bad, but on the good, they were able to wean enough sedation so that he opens his eyes and shakes his hands. His body cannot manage too much sedation.
“I know that the transplants are such a blessing and I am overwhelmed with the idea of receiving a gift like that. No one would take better care of this gift than Ben.”
She revealed earlier this month that her husband “had developed severe pneumonia that had come very suddenly”.

Askren recently signed with True American Freestyle – The Hulk Hogan Venture hoping to popularize the professional freestyle struggle.
The 40 -year -old was a Ncaa Champion in the 170 -pound division in 2006 and 2007 and continued to compete for the American team at the 2008 Olympic Games. He won gold medals in the 2005 Pan American championships and the 2009 world championships.
He made his complete transition to MMA’s fights when he made his debut in Bellator in 2010. He then participated in a championship before taking the UFC.

He beat Robbie Lawler by submission to the UFC 235 before losing against Jorge Masvidal in a high -level fight. In 2021, he fought Jake Paul in a boxing match.
