- Windows 11 indices have previews suggest that AI is coming to the taskbar
- This could be in the form of a “Aiatic Ai” companion
- Exactly what his goal is far from being clear at this stage
Microsoft could consider adding an AI element at the Windows 11 taskbar, depending on the clues in the overview versions and theorization of the rumors.

Windows pointed out the last that the well -known Xeno leak published on X that they found a functionality “Taskbar Companion”, which is mentioned in the settings (as well as other songs, including the capabilities related to the game).
There is no explicit mention of the AI here, but Windows the last note that it has already heard that Microsoft plans to add AI actions to the taskbar, and that it could be the mentioned companion (s).
The site indicates that another regular event of events linked to Windows on X, Phantomofearth, stressed that the references to the companions were in an overview of the Windows server last month – and that the Windows 11 overviews were witness to a mention of “ agentic companions ” for the taskbar.
Windows last also draws our attention to a channel in a recent Windows 11 overview version linked to the control of “visibility of agent companions on the taskbar”.
Consider all this together, and the obvious theory – recalling that it is only speculations which must be strongly seasoned at this stage – is that the companion functionality of the taskbar is linked to agentic AI in one way or another.
This term refers to an AI agent, or assistant, who would be triggered by the taskbar.
Analysis: double agent
If you want to have an idea of what could be in store for the taskbar, look no further than the Settings application in Windows 11, which has just received an AI agent (for Copilot + PCS only). This facilitates intelligent research to find the options you need to tinker in the settings, so that you can throw a request such as “How can I change the speed at which my mouse pointer moves?” And AI will find this option for you – and can even offer a recommended parameter in certain scenarios.
It is useful, without a doubt, but the question is: how can the features of AI like this one work in the taskbar? At this stage, your supposition is as good as mine, but if you want the latter, it could be linked to the management of notifications or the calendar (outside the system plateau).
Alternatively, like the latest Windows indications, it could feed a form of recommendations, such as the applications you may want to install, or websites you may want to visit, which could be killed by the taskbar (Microsoft already has this type of feature in the start-up menu, of course). I sincerely hope that this is not the case, but it is a concept that Microsoft played with a little for the taskbar in the past.
What is worrying for me is that I find it hard to think of something that could be really useful in this scenario of an infused to theorized task bar (while the agent in the parameters has a clear value in terms of research functionality). The concern is therefore that this would be one more AI case just for good.
In any case, we are still in the early stages of progress here, with only the most vague indices in the background of Windows 11 that something could happen with AI agents in the taskbar. So, it is far from clear that Microsoft has such plans – but there again, the addition of more interest to Windows 11 would hardly be a surprise (perhaps for Copilot + PCS only, as is the case with the parameter agent).
