- The third expansion, according to rumors, for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt would be near Velen
- Former Polish gaming journalist claims game won’t take place in Zerrikania, as previously reported
- Reliable industry insider NateTheHate also claimed that the DLC was real.
CD Projekt Red reportedly intends to release a third expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in advance The Witcher 4and now a new rumor suggests it will take place in a familiar location.
According to a former Polish gaming journalist, ‘UV o grach’, on YouTube, rumors are that the downloadable content (DLC) will not take place in Zerrikania, as was previously announced, but closer to Velen, the region you will travel to after completing White Orchard in The Witcher 3 (via Eurogamer).
The video is in Polish, but several Polish speakers on Reddit have apparently verified the YouTuber’s statement.
Polish speakers said the rumors about Zerikkania were potentially false or embellished because the original IGN Poland report only mentioned that CDPR had considered a definite expansion in the region.
Rumors about a third party Witcher 3 the expansion has been building up for a while. It’s unclear exactly when the expansion will release, if it’s even real (CDPR hasn’t announced anything yet), but it has been reported that it could launch this year.
Reliable industry insider NateTheHate also recently stated that The Witcher 3 The DLC is real in response to a fan, but was unable to provide further details.
It is also claimed that Fool’s Theory, the studio that is remaking The Witcher 1develops the new Witcher 3 expansion, and CDPR CFO Piotr Nielubowicz also hinted that “new content” for an unnamed game could launch this year.
“Given our current progress, it is possible that new content discussed in recent calls and reports will be released in the coming year, which will impact our results and increase the likelihood of reaching the income requirements for the first stage of the incentive program,” Nielubowicz said in a conference call at the time.
To add even more fire to the rumors, after the Game Awards 2025, Noble Securities’ Polish analyst Mateusz Chrzanowski released a report that said (via Reddit/Google Translate): “We are waiting for the next paid add-on (DLC) for The Witcher 3 which will be released in May 2026.”
We assume that the new Witcher 3 The DLC is a sort of prologue that will extend until The Witcher 4which is expected to feature Ciri. The upcoming game doesn’t have a release date, but CDPR has suggested it likely won’t launch until 2027.
