The New York Yankees held a moment of silence before Wednesday evening’s match against the Detroit Tigers to honor the conservative influencer Charlie Kirk. Kirk died after being killed during a speaking event in Utah earlier during the day.
The team posted a photo of Kirk on his jumbotron before the game with the message “Remember Charlie Kirk”.

Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, died at 31 years after the shooting of the Utah campus
“Before this evening’s match, we had a moment of silence in Memoriam by Charlie Kirk. Kirk founded the group of young activists’` turning point USA ” and had become a match on university campuses. Charlie Kirk, husband and father of two, was 31 years old, “said the team in an article on X.
“The conservative activist and founder of Turning Point USA was declared dead shortly after being killed during an event on campus at Utah Valley University.”
President Donald Trump Confirmed Kirk’s death in an article on Truth Social.
“The big, and even legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead. No one understood or had better young people in the United States of America than Charlie. He was loved and admired by all, especially me, and now he is no longer with us,” wrote Trump. “Melania and my sympathies go to her beautiful wife Erika and the family. Charlie, we love you!”
The incident caused emotional responses many eminent personalities in the world of sport, including former Yankee Mark Teixeira and the Giants of New York Jaxson Dart Giants.

Kirk died after being taken to the hospital in critical condition after being killed on Wednesday during a UTAH event, a law enforcement official at the Associated Press said.

The published video of the event seemed to show that Kirk is shot when he spoke to the crowd in a white pop-up tent. After the shot, the crowd dispersed, with spectators shouting: “Run, run, run!”
The FBI said that “the subject” of the shooting is in detention.
