- The new Dyson Stick Vac light has been announced: the V16 animal piston
- Has compaction on board dust, hand -free fixing exchange and advanced automation features
- There is also an underwater version with additional cleaning tabrillage
After three years of waiting, there is a new flagship vacuum from Dyson in town: The Dyson V16 Animal Piston. Dyson’s high technology fulfillments are present and correct, but I am delighted to see here simpler use improvements, and perhaps more useful, from many features, including many features that I predict, we will see versions of copying rival brands over the next year.
The Piston V16 animal may well be the best Dyson vacuum based solely on specifications. He follows the Dyson Gen5detect (launched in 2022) in the flagship line, but in some respects, it is more similar to the detection of Dyson V15 of 2021. I had the opportunity to get my hands with the new arrival during a recent event, and I was impressed – I am testing it properly, so sit well for a complete exam.
So what’s new? First of all, the reason for the “piston” in the name: dust compacting on board via a “Cleancomompaktor” tank. Push the red lever on the cup of dust and you can crush the air of everything that has been sucking, which means that you can integrate much more into the tank and clean longer without having repeated trips in the trash.
The interior of the trash was redesigned, so there are no crevices for the dust to be taken, and the cursor also erases the interior of the case to eliminate any fine dust that has collected there – which, in my opinion, has performance advantages as well as aesthetic advantages.
A second improvement in practical usability is that the Piston V16 has been designed so that you can exchange accessories without having to look. Press the red brassard at the top of the baguette to release the head from the ground, then simply put on a new in place – the mooring tube on the cleaner heads is at a angle that allows you to do it easily while you stand up.
In practice, this is a clever tip and works a treat. I hope this is something that other brands will start to adopt in the future.
Tangle
Regarding soil heads, the main one here seems quite different from what we are all used to. Rather than a single brushing, the Piston V16 has two rollers in the shape of a cone. This floor head “all floor cones” is based on the existing hair screw tool, and like this accessory, it is supposed to prevent hair from tanging me around the rollers. The idea is that long hair is directed towards the small end of each cone, where it is sucked in in the intake tube.
During my practical time, I found that it worked well during the fight against the hair that had been arranged in front of the head cleaner, but the tangled strands tended to be stuck in the space behind the roller, requiring a manual flow. As a person with long hair, I am interested in seeing how much it works well in a real environment (rather than a demonstration laboratory) – I will report once I have had the chance to put this function to the test properly.
By the way, the hair screw tool has also had an upgrade for the new model. A rubber scraper has been added to help dislodge the paddling hair, so it is loose and ready to be sucked.
There is no separate soft floor board and hard ground here. Instead, Dyson merged the two previous conceptions to create something that is apparently as great on hard floors as on the carpet. The floor head of the floor cones All sides includes two rolls of hair, cut slightly so that they will agitate the fibers on a carpet but will not scratch a hard floor, plus a soft material designed to sweep the hard floors.
Dyson has also focused on the laser from the head of the fluffy floor. Here, it is placed in the middle of the head and bottom at an angle, for even better enlightening advantages. Assisantly, you can activate an automatic ” mode for laser so that it only comes on when the vacuum is on a hard surface, or you can turn it off entirely, for example if you have pets that do not react well to lasers in the living room.
If you only have hard floors, you might be better to opt for the pencil dyson and its soft floor head anyway. Another new launch, the pencil is a light and lower vacuum cleaner which is oriented towards use on hard floors.
Set up
It will almost say, but there was also a boost. The Piston V16 leads to 315aw, compared to 262AW on the Gen5detect. Dyson made it by overthrowing the engine at 180 degrees compared to the previous models, which seems counter-intuitive but which apparently works.
Many of the best wireless vacuums today offer a kind of automatic suction adjustment, but here is a particularly advanced version. As gen5detect and V15 detect, V16 can increase or reduce the suction as a function of the quantity of dirt it detects, but it can also intelligently adjust the brush speed depending on the type of floor on which it is. So, for carpets, it will use a high flow and a quick roll speed, while on hard floors, the speed of the roller is lower because it is not necessary for an effective dust collection.
In Eco and Auto mode, half of the cyclones will go out via a rubber muscle, to help extend the life of the filter. In Boost mode, everything opens to release maximum power.
I am happy to see that this increase in power is not accompanied by an increase in weight – my main complaint with the Gen5detect is that it is simply too heavy for a wireless stick. The Piston V16 is actually lighter; It weighs the same as detection V15. In practice, it’s still a little heavy, but it is reassuring that things move in the right direction.
Like the V15 DETECT, the V16 is also delivered in an underwater version, which includes in a cleaning floor head. Although the head of the underwater soil was slightly modified compared to that which accompanied the V15 detection submarine, it seems that our main problems with this soil (the fled’s dirty water compartment, too small water tanks) was not approached-again, I will report once I had time to try it correctly.
It is also the first vacuum cleaner correctly connected to the application. The application will provide additional information and many fine control options. It also has a feature that records cleaning sessions and how long it has been used. However, Dyson is in mind to emphasize that you can always use the V16 without the application if you wish.
Price and availability
In the United Kingdom, the Dyson V16 Animal Piston has a list price of £ 749.99, while the underwater version costs £ 899.99. Both are available for purchase from today on dyson.co.uk.
I await confirmation of prices and launch dates in the United States and Australia and I will update this article as soon as I hear more. In the United Kingdom, the price is almost the same as Gen5detect – if this is true in other territories, expect it to cost around $ 950 / $ 1,550 in.
