- EUFY launched its first lawn: EUFY E15 and (US only) E18
- These are visual robots with autonomous driving, which use cameras and AI algorithms to navigate
- They do not need to use limits or RTK receivers
Lawy robotic mowers have gone a long way in recent years. The limits are gradually become something in the past, most modern lawns using RTK receptors to navigate carefully and precisely using satellite signals. But the new Eufy models push things a little further and work without any of these.
The new EUFY E15 and E18 are mowers of Robot V -FSD lawn (Visual Full Autonomé), and find their way using a combination of binocular cameras and AI algorithms – it is a system similar to what you will find in an autonomous car.
In addition to not having to deal with additional hassles of the implementation of a separate RTK receiver, this could be an ideal solution for those who have a lot of air obstacles in their garden – satellite navigation is based on a direct line of view to several satellites in the sky.
These are the first lawns of Eufy – the brand is better known for its robot vacuum, its intelligent locks and its security cameras. Since an EUFY model is currently sitting at the top of the best classification of Techradar robot vibot, I am intrigued to see if this can take part of this interior magic outside.
EUFY promises an effortless configuration process: simply connect the bot to your Wi-Fi, do it on your lawn and it will automatically map the area. The V-FSD 1.0 Tech is designed to precisely identify the lawn edges and paths, as well as to identify the obstacles to be avoided. There is the possibility of adding prohibited areas via the application and of mapping several lawn areas.
The system may seem a little too good to be true, but on the basis of our first tests, things are very promising. Until now, our examiner has been impressed by the navigation of his E15, reporting a largely precise automatic mapping and a avoidance of reliable objects for all the size of a tennis ball or more. We will get a full review live as soon as we have had the chance to test it correctly.
The EUFY E15 is available in the United States and the United Kingdom, and is designed for courses up to 0.2 acres / 800 m², while the E18 is currently only American and can tackle larger spaces up to 0.3 acres / 1,200 m².
Like a satellite lawn, these two V-FSD models can cut into uniform lines. You can adjust the desired cutting height between 1 and 3 inches / 2.5 to 7.5 cm, and there is also a “ride on edge” feature where the boot will ride the perimeter of the paths so that you do not need to take the trouble to manually cut the edges.
The bots are equipped with a GPS + 4G anti -theft system, saved with the remote visualization option of the visual camera.
In the United States, E15 and E18 are available for purchase now directly from EUFY US, at a list price of $ 1,799.99 and $ 1,999.99 respectively. In the United Kingdom, the E15 is available directly from EUFY UK for £ 1,499.
