The thieves broke into the farm of Pakistani cricket players Kamran and Umar Akmal’s father in Lahore, stealing newly installed solar panels worth 500,000 rupees in broad daylight.
According to police, the incident took place in the jurisdiction of the Heyr police station, where unidentified suspects broke the main door lock and entered the property.
They removed and stole the solar panels before fleeing the scene.
The victim, the father of the former Pakistan goalkeepers, said the solar system had been installed a day earlier. “We set it up yesterday, and today the thieves won,” he told local media.
The police arrived at the farm shortly after the incident. Authorities said video surveillance images and other evidence was used to identify the culprits.
SP Cantonment Owais Shafiq confirmed that a case had been recorded against unknown suspects on the complaint of the farm coach Kashif Mahmood.
He added that officers had been invited to trace and stop the thieves as soon as possible.
