Third party to re-evaluate disputed XI results

The parliamentary committee of the Sindh Assembly has decided to dispose of the documents of students, who have reservations on the results of class 11, re-checked by a third party.

A meeting of the committee to inquire into the findings of the Karachi Intermediate Education Board (Biek) was held under the chairmanship of Education Minister Syed Sardar Shah. Leader of Opposition Ali Khurheedi, Jamaat-e-Islami Parliamentary Member Muhammad Farooq, and other members also attended the meeting.

During the meeting, the terms of reference (TORS) of the committee were finalized and it was decided that the results of the students would undergo scrutiny. Additionally, the board administration will provide a briefing at the next committee meeting.

The committee assured that no injustice will be done to the students.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Provincial Education Minister Sardar Shah said legislation was being drafted for the Assembly resolution regarding the appointment of vice-chancellors of the university. The question of whether a vice-chancellor can be a bureaucrat was referred to the standing committee by the Assembly.

The complaint of the affected students will also be part of this meeting, while the directors and presidents of the four boards will also be invited in the next meeting.

Opposition Leader Ali Khurheedi said the committee was constituted keeping in view the future of the student. Responsibility for looking into any problems in the results was given to the committee.

He went on to say that the committee’s tors were discussed at the meeting and conditions were set for the investigation.

The aim is to address the grievances of students who have faced injustice regarding their results.
