- Highpoint Rocketstor 8631CW gives you 64 GB / s of GPU bandwidth – no driver or software required
- Real PCIe Gen5 X16 Ways delivered directly to your GPU via a single COPPRLINK cable
- Adapts to GPU double or triple slot of Nvidia, AMD or Intel – no compatibility tip required
The GPU external speakers (EGPU) are not new, but Rocketstor 8631CW from Highpoint has entered the scene with unusually aggressive terrain.
The company claims that this external GPU configuration offers a direct connection of PCIe Gen5 X16 to a full -size graphics card via a Copprink Copprink owner cable.
In addition to its bandwidth for office class GPUs, this device supports plug-and-play, bone -gnostic and is not based on software or drivers.
A more in -depth examination of the configuration of the equipment
At the heart of the system is the Rocket 1634D host interface card, which uses the Broadcom PEX 89048 switch to maintain its Gen5 X16 link, with a transfer speed up to 64 GB / s.
The card is part of low profile systems, measuring 68.9 mm x 165 mm and supports a single CDFP channel.
It supports LED indicators for visual feedback on connection status and secure start -up at hardware and software levels.
The RocketStor 8631C chassis is connected, which uses Asteralabs PCIe 5.0 retitimeters to maintain the integrity of the signal.
The speaker supports a complete, full length, double or triple slot GPU of any major supplier, including NVIDIA, AMD and Intel.
It can manage power loads of up to 600W and includes real -time power monitoring and an advanced double -flue cooling system with a programmable intelligent fan check for thermal problems. There is also a mute button in the background in case the audible alerts become too talkative.
Its dimensions are 370 mm x 170 mm x 88 mm, which makes it large enough to house a class RTX 5090 card, but always compact enough not to overwhelm an office.
This configuration is aimed at workflows where zero stability and configuration environments are compulsory – think of the AI model training, 8K edition or business quality rendering pipelines.
But in a world where laptops are increasingly equipped with powerful integrated GPUs, this speaker is more like a solution for on -board cases.
A creator looking for the best laptop for video publishing or the best laptop for Photoshop will probably find many capable systems that do not need such a configuration, especially when portability, price and simplicity are taken into account.
That said, as GPUs and integrated compact systems improve, the need for such a solution shrinks and the cost increases considerably.
You will need a PCIE slot machine in your system, a full -power GPU corresponding and an imperative reason to justify the cost – but if you died on the transport of the RTX 5090 class power without a turn, this could be the only material currently at the height.
The Highpoint Rocketstor 8631CW is currently sold on the Highpoint website for $ 1,999.
