- A Gopro Max 2 prototype is on sale
- The first version is missing a screen
- A full launch for the camera is expected soon
The wait for a successor to the GoPro Max was long – the 360 -degree camera launched in 2019 – but a new leak gives us more evidence than a successor is finally about to be presented.
As Notebookcheck pointed out and a wire on Reddit, a prototype of the Gopro Max 2 has now appeared on a Chinese market. One of the main gifts that is a prototype is that it has no screen, which the real model will do.
We have an overview of the folding fingers assembly system which is present on other recent GoPro cameras, and to certain interior components: the size of thermal dissipators suggests that it is a camera that could be quite hot.
The leak also gives us a good overview of the size and position of one of the front cameras. We will have to wait and see how the image and video quality is held against the Insta360 X5 and the next DJI Osmo 360.
A long time
Given that it is clearly a prototype of the Gopro Max 2, we are somewhat limited in terms of what we can take in the final version of the next camera, but it is always an interesting leak which reveals part of what Google worked.
Our hopes were raised with an official trailer for Gopro Max 2 at the beginning of the month, but we have heard nothing gopro since this camera. Presumably, a complete unveiling cannot be too far now.
We obtained some adjustments to the original GoPro Max in February, but not the complete refresh that we expected. Gopro said that there had been production delays over the years, pushing the launch of Gopro Max 2 more and more.
I hope there is not too much time to wait now – and we expect the 360 degree camera to look directly in our list of the best GoPros. As soon as Gopro officially says something else, we will of course know.
