Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang claimed that humanity is experiencing one of the greatest revolutions in human history thanks to AI and robotics.
Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Huang dismissed fears of an AI bubble by saying that artificial intelligence touches every industry – it’s not just a term used in tech companies.
“The rental spot price is going up. Not just for the latest generation, but also for GPUs that are two generations old,” Huang argued in an interview with Blackrock CEO Larry Fink (via The register), referring to the very scope of AI.
AI Bubble Fears
It has already been seen that artificial intelligence requires continued investment in data centers, but energy infrastructure is also under greater pressure than ever and the demand for skilled professionals is just as high.
Also speaking in Davos, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella also ruled out a looming AI bubble, noting: “I think a telltale sign that there is a bubble would be if we only talk about tech companies,” he said, emphasizing AI’s global and cross-industry reach.
We also see AI evolving into physical devices, with Huang saying robotics offers a “once-in-a-generation” opportunity for the European manufacturing industry.
Huang also made positive remarks about the effects of AI on the job market – he believes that “trades” will be key to building data centers and infrastructure. “This is the largest infrastructure construction in human history and it will create many jobs,” he said.
Nadella’s opinion differed, instead focusing on jobs affected by AI. He compared the current landscape to past workforce trends, where potential employees had to prove their skills in various office software like Word and Excel. Improving AI skills is just the next phase of this journey.
In short, it’s clear that both leaders see AI and robotics radically changing the way we view work, but it remains to be seen how this will translate into job creation or loss.
