- Google Gemini soon heads for Android Auto
- A new video shows how integration will work
- The new AI will replace Google Assistant in cars
Gemini takes over from Google Assistant on all Google applications and devices, and Android Auto will soon change – as shown in a new demonstration video that gives us an idea of how the AI assistant will work on the dashboard of your car.
The video was captured on Google I / O 2025 and published by 9TO5GOOGLE, and you can see how Gemini stops to the right of the screen (or perhaps the left hand, depending on the road rules of your country).
If you have used Gemini on your phone, the interface will be familiar, with the brilliant blue ripples showing that the Gemini are active. You are then free to ask the questions you have on the road, using natural language.
You may want to see the nearby service stations for example, or ask Gemini to draw the location of an event in which you are heading from your Google calendar. Everything you can do on your phone you can do via Gemini on Android Auto.
More flexibility
To watch
A demonstration that Google has shown was to use Gemini to compile a list of ingredients for a particular meal in Google Keep, then request directions to local grocery store to recover the necessary – all very impressive supplies.
Generally, it is much more flexible and more intelligent than Google Assistant. All your cats by car will be synchronized with Gemini on the web and on your phone, so that you can resume where you stopped on other devices and continue the conversation.
With Android Automotive (therefore the version integrated into cars), the interface is a little more subtle, with a small pop-up bar showing Gemini. However, the exact aspect may vary depending on your vehicle and the screen configuration of the dashboard.
It is not known exactly when Gemini appears on Android Auto, but Google said that it will arrive soon, and we have seen many signs that it is on the way. Gemini is already the AI assistant by default on new Android phones.
