- The Rotel DX-3 is an earpiece amp which can also act as office dac
- Adaptive Aptx Wireless and HD as well as wired headphones
- It costs $ 1,499.00 // £ 1,399.00 (about $ 3,065 in)
Huge specifications. Tiny imprint. It is the pitch for the new Rotel DX -3, a compact helmet amplifier and an autonomous DAC that promises audio of audiophile quality for the best wired headphones – but not only Wired headphones.
Inspired by the hometown of Rotel, Tokyo, where the space is at a higher price, the DX-3 is very small: only 215 mm x 76 mm x 247 mm (8½ x 3 x 9¾ inches). But it has a lot of power and a lot of connectivity.
ROTEL DX-3: Key characteristics and price
ROTEL describes the DX-3 as “the ultimate office audio companion” with entries, including PC-USB (32 bit / 384 kHz) with DSD 4X care, coaxial and optical (24 bits / 192 kHz) and an RCA analog connection for entries.
The helmet amplifier supports high, low and medium impedance models and is delivered with a gain in amplifier selected by the user; There are both balanced 4.4 mm connectors and 6.35 mm on the front panel, and there are balanced XLR outputs and RCA at the rear so that you can use the DX-3 as an autonomous and pre-amplifier DAC. But it also supports the best wireless headphones as well as wired options, thanks to the support for Aptx / HD and AAC Bluetooth wireless adaptation / HD.
I will assume that this is considered an optional supplement for convenience, because it seems that a shame to have all this audio power and tighten it in compressed wireless technology – the Aptx event is quite limited compared to the full quality of what is proposed here.
Inside, there is an ES9028Pro Dac Saber ES9028Pro with eight channels and the own Toroidal transformer with ultra-patient noise. This includes high current capacitors and high quality capacitors to provide what Rotel says is “the resolution, rhythm and ultimate timing, and on an immersive sound scene”.
The volume is controlled by a differential analog controller fully differential with audiophile quality, offering steps of 0.5 dB, and analog and digital supplies are entirely isolated from each other to apparently guarantee a minimum interference. There are also tailor -made low -way filters with a complete and fully differential signal path for a nose and distortion reduction.
The Rotel DX-3 is now available in the United Kingdom and will launch on a global scale “shortly after”. Its official price is $ 1,499 / € 1,499 / £ 1,399 / approximately $ 3,065 in.
