- The Xiaomi TV Stick 4K (2nd generation) soon arrives
- CPU / faster GPU performing Google TV instead of Android TV
- HDR10 + and DTS: X as well as Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos
Xiaomi’s Google TV streaming stick has been updated with certain significant improvements. Although the underlying equipment has not radically changed beyond a new CPU – RAM and storage are the same 2 GB and 8 GB as before – there are key audio and video improvements.
The new Xiaomi TV Stick 4K (2nd generation) has a new chipset built around the AA Quad-Core Cortex-A55 processor and the Mali-G310 GPU, which, according to Xiaomi, offers 80% better processor performance and a 150% increase in graphic performance compared to the first generation of 4K diffusion. Wi-Fi is faster, and there is also a better HDR and audio support.
Xiaomi TV Stick 4K (2nd generation): Key characteristics and price
One of the most important changes is that Xiaomi has exchanged bones: where the original TV stick worked on Android TV, this one has Google TV. This means a more modern and rationalized interface and better recommendations through the various streaming services you use.
The new second -generation TV stick is now supporting HDR10 + as well as the Dolby vision of the previous model. And there was a similar audio upgrade with the addition of DTS management: X alongside the existing Dolby Atmos support.
Wi-Fi is now Wi-Fi 6, and Bluetooth is the same 5.2 as before. And the remote control was slightly redesigned with a new button for the free live television service from Xiaomi.
What we don’t know yet is what it will cost when it is officially launched, or when this launch is. Android Authority spotted it on Aliexpress, where it is offered with a claim of $ 86 claimed which drops the price to around $ 49 (approximately 36 £ VAT).
The first generation 4K stick is currently $ 56.99 on Amazon US and £ 49.99 on Amazon UK.
