- The Primare Allt-i-Ett combines speaker, streamer and amplifier
- Designed as an all-in-one audio device, including a touchscreen for streaming
- Sells for $3,500 / £2,700 (around AU$5,200)
If you don’t like poring over the list of speaker specifications and trying to figure out if they have the connection or port you need, here’s a new gadget for you. The recently revealed Primare Allt-i-Ett has virtually every modern connection you could want from one of the best wireless speakers.
The Allt-i-Ett – a phrase that apparently translates to “all-in-one” in Norwegian and Swedish – is not a budget Bluetooth speaker. It costs $3,500 / £2,700 (around AU$5,200) and takes up an entire cabinet top, as you can see in the image above – it looks a lot like the five-star Cambridge Audio Evo One, but with a good-sized touchscreen to make it even more versatile.
For that price, you get an all-in-one speaker, streamer, and amplifier.
Let’s look at the first: a speaker. The Allt-i-Ett has six woofers, two midrange drivers and two tweeters with waveguides, and produces 300W of power. It’s truly an all-in-one speaker setup, although you can also connect a subwoofer.
Stay connected
As mentioned, connectivity is the real draw. Primare has enabled – deep breath – USB-A, coaxial, optical, HDMI eARC, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, FM radio and DAB+ and 3.5mm input – as well as support for AirPlay 2 Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect and Qobuz Connect. Oh, and there’s a stereo RCA input or phono preamp, if you want to connect one of the best turntables.
In short, you can connect (wired or wireless) almost any other device to have the Allt-i-Ett play your music. HDMI eARC also says it can function as one of the best soundbars, even if that’s not the primary function – although that’s perhaps where you’ll appreciate the secondary output option the most.
To try and manage some of these connections, the Allt-i-Ett has a range of control options. You can use a phone app, a remote control, or an in-body touchscreen. You can use them to manage a few extra features: an 11-band EQ, automatic room calibration, 3D audio, and various placement modes.
Despite its high price, the Primare Allt-i-Ett seems designed for people who want a room-spanning audio setup, but can’t accommodate (or simply don’t want) a multi-unit setup. The speaker allows you to manage various media sources in a single model, without the need to purchase a separate amplifier, adapter or receiver. We hope to try it out to see if it can surpass the power of the Cambridge Audio Evo One. After all, it “only” costs about $1,599…
