A new indie game just launched and I can already tell it’s going to take over my life. Called Raccoinit perfectly captures all the fun of arcade games without emptying your wallet.
Available now on PC via Steam, Raccoin is described as a “roguelike deck builder,” but instead of cards, you collect special coins and super-powerful prizes that can be combined in interesting ways. There are over 150 distinct coins to try in the Coin Pusher game, each with their own unique effects to master.
So far, I’ve encountered pieces that form massive towers, others that duplicate themselves or suck surrounding pieces into huge vortices, and much more. Whatever the effect, they’re all incredibly fun to use thanks to the physics that give each piece a nice heavy look and very satisfying sound effects.

Sending several special coins simultaneously also produces surprising results. I hit a bomb piece with another that increases the size of whatever it hits, causing a gigantic explosion that pretty much destroyed the entire machine. My coin collecting adventures are still in their early stages, but I imagine there will be quite a bit of strategy involved in cleverly using these special coins to maximize my high scores.
There are also 15 power-up items (which have similar effects), six playable characters with their own unique pieces, and eight difficulty levels. Although much of the game involves reaching a specific score to progress, there is an infinite and endless mode for those who can’t get enough.
Oh, and how could I not mention that you can play the role of a cute raccoon?
