- Tronsmart Fiitune X30 is now available for $ 179.99 (around £ 154 / $ 322 in)
- 80W output with integrated subwoofer and “Sky Driver” upwards “
- IPX6 water resistance and 14 -hour battery life
The Tronsmart Fiitune X30 is a direct rival of the Sonos 300 era, and it has a particularly attractive quality: it is less than half of the Sonos price.
When the ERA 300 of Sonos has a list price of $ 449 / £ 449 / $ 749 at, the X30 FIITUNE is launched with a price of $ 179.99 / 179.99 € (around £ 154 / $ 322 in).
As you can imagine, there are some differences in specifications to reach a much lower price. And if you are serious about space sound, one of these differences can be a break.
FIITUNE X30: Key features
The X30 FIITUNE has six driver units, including a “driver sky” illuminated up to launch an audio to the ceiling, an active subwoofer, downwards, double tweeters and mid-plaing drivers. There are four passive bass radiators and the total power is 80 W. The frequency range is not specified beyond “an ultra-large bandwidth of 40 kHz”.
It is a portable design with an integrated handle, a double peripheral connection and an IPX6 water resistance, and it promises 14 hours of reading between the charges-which is fairly low compared to the best portable speakers, although there are many speakers to handle here, to be fair.
You can adjust the audio with the Smartphone Companion application for iOS and Android, and Android users can broadcast the audio on the LDAC speaker for the highest possible sound quality. The speaker can be used solo or as half a stereo pair.
This is not a bad specification for money, but there is a significant warning: space audio is not native, because the speaker does not support Dolby Atmos (or rival space audio formats, but Atmos is crucial for music right now).
Any spatial effect will come from the “scaling” of music to have an additional virtual height using this loudspeaker mounted on the top, and any 3D placement beyond stereo will also be added by the speaker.
This means that it targets a market very different from that of the Sonos, and I suspect that its real rival is not the era 300, but the Sonos Erre 2.. The smallest sonos is far from being as strong as the FITUNE X30 – it is 10 W rather than 80W and has much fewer speakers – but it is at the same price at $ 179 / £ / at £ 299.
The Tronsmart could be a juicy ensemble of speakers anyway, with a lot of power at a low price, but this could be a case where it is useless to put the additional effort of the space speakers unless you go all the way and include Atmos.
