- Over 12,000 Bella Pro Series and Cooks coffee machines have been recalled
- Several users reported injuries after the failure of their high pressure machines
- The owners must stop using the machines immediately and request a refund
Thousands of espresso machines were recalled after 18 people reported that a component was “ejected with force” during use. Among these, eight have received burns or lacerations accordingly.
Assigned machines are no longer on sale, but several owners have written criticism to warn potential risks of risks before voluntary recall. Some even included photos of broken coffee makers in their kitchens.
“The machine exploded the very first time used,” wrote an owner. “Glass and metal stolen all over the kitchen. I received milk from the refrigerator and that’s why I was not injured.”
“This product is dangerous,” said another. “He explodes in brewing. The portafilter literally detached from the machine during the brewing cycle. I have serious burns [due] has […] the defect of this machine. Do not buy this machine. It’s dangerous. “”
“The machine exploded”
The problem affects two coffee machines: the steam espresso manufacturer of the Bella Pro series and the Cooks steam espresso manufacturer. The machines were imported by Sensio Inc. from New York and 12,300 were sold at JC Penney and Best Buy – in stores and online – between August 2023 and January 2025.
All the recalled machines are made from black plastic with stainless steel garnish and have either a “Bella Pro series” or “cooks” at the front. Return your machine and you should see a sticker bearing the model number. If it is 90195 or 22395, you must stop using it immediately according to the advice of the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
To request a refund, you can contact Sensio at no cost at 855-647-3125 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. HE Monday to Friday, or visit the Bella Kitchen website. You will need to damage the Ult under the machine certification number, cut your cord and provide photos as proof that you have made it unusable.
