Karachi:
Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has decided to install E -was in the three main airports in the country – Karachi airport, Lahore airport and Islamabad airport.
The e-ties to install in international arrival and departure salons of airports will simplify and accelerate the immigration process and international commuters will no longer have to wait in long queues.
E-gates will also use artificial intelligence (AI) for the documentation and biometric identification of passengers and the project, including the installation of approximately 100 doors of this type, will be completed in 2 years.
According to PAA officials, German experts have finalized the basic design of e-gate. During their visit to Pakistan, they also organized a three -day workshop in Karachi. The PAA also organized consultations with other stakeholders, including the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
They said the project reflects a commitment to provide modern and ultramodern facilities and is one of the efforts to bring Pakistan airports to international standards.
The project aims to provide a secure, scalable and technology -oriented solution for major airports in Pakistan. According to the agreement, the consultants behave satisfactorily.
The additional director of engineering services, Adnan Ahmed, told L’Express PK Press Club that a world-renowned German company M2P had been selected for the E-Gate project that started in September from last year.
As part of the process, a team of German experts went to Pakistan and after numerous consultations in Karachi, finished the basic design of the project. During their three-day workshop, it has been explained that e-gates are self-service systems that automate the immigration process.
This improves the travel experience for passengers by saving time and reducing the hassles. One of the main advantages is that passengers do not have to interact directly with immigration staff. The system will be useful for passengers and border officers and will also introduce safety improvements.
