Three terrorists killed during CTD operation in Peshawar

CTD Peshawar and SWAT teams launched raid on credible intelligence, two terrorists fled the scene

Three terrorists were killed during an intelligence operation carried out by the Anti-Terrorism Department in Peshawar, while two of their accomplices managed to escape, officials said on Tuesday.

The operation was carried out within the jurisdiction of Matni Police Station, near Akhun Baba cemetery on Azakhel road, following confirmed reports that the suspects were present in the area to plan a major act of sabotage.

According to officials, the CTD Peshawar, along with its Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) teams, launched the raid after receiving credible information. During the operation, the terrorists opened fire on the police officers, prompting the police to retaliate in self-defense. As a result, three terrorists were killed on the spot, while two others fled the scene.

A subsequent search of the area found the bodies of the three terrorists as well as three Kalashnikov rifles, nine magazines and a large quantity of ammunition. Large contingents of police have reached the spot and a search operation is underway to trace and arrest the fleeing suspects.

Inspector General of Police Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Zulfiqar Hameed and Additional Inspector General of Police CTD congratulated the CTD personnel for the successful operation.

They said such actions against miscreants were commendable and reiterated that the tempo of operations would be further intensified to ensure protection of life and property and eliminate terrorism from the province.
