Police and a local militia neutralized three alleged terrorists during a “search and strike” operation carried out in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) district. Several terrorists were also injured during the operation.
According to a press release published on Sunday to the press by the office of the Inspector General of KP (IGP), the local police entered action after having received information on the presence of terrorists in the Tajwari region of the district.
He said local police, the contingents of the Department of Terrorism (CTD) as well as the special rapid response force began a research operation in which members of an “Aman Committee” and residents of the region also participated.
“During the operation, law enforcement agencies [and their local supporters] had a meeting with 20 to 25 terrorists at 10:45 am in the forest of Khankhel Manderzai who fell under the jurisdiction of the Tajwari and Bargai police station.
“In the following shooting in which heavy weapons were used by both sides and which continued for about 2 hours, the police, fighting valiantly, sent three terrorists in hell without undergoing loss. A certain number of terrorists also suffered injuries and they then fled.”
The press release indicates that a research operation continued in pursuit of the terrorists.
According to the police officer of the District of Lakki Marwat (DPO), Jawwad Ishaq, who directed the operation, the inhabitants of the region demonstrated an exceptional bravery and patriotism by shoulder with their police, thus strengthening their morale.
Ig Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zulfiqar Hameed praised the courage and the valor of the Lakki Marwat police and announced cash rewards and statement certificates for the staff involved in the operation.
