Islamabad:
Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) informed the Senateurial Health Services Committee on Tuesday that a three -year ban was imposed on the registration of new medical colleges due to a shortage of teachers.
The committee, which met here the senator Aamir Waleedddin, in the president, discussed the PMDC amendment bill moved by Senator Humayun Mohmand. The bill proposed to include parliamentarians from the Board of Directors of the PMDC. However, the Minister of Health Mustafa Kamal opposed the proposal.
The president of the PMDC, Dr. Rizwan Taj, said that parliamentarians had never been part of the board of directors, but the president corrects him, declaring that a senator and a MNA were sitting on the board of directors.
IRFAN SIDDIQUI said that the inclusion of policies would not change the structure of the institution.
Mustafa Kamal told the Committee that even him, as Minister of Health, was not part of the Board of Directors of the PMDC.
He argued that Pakistan health professionals were always respected worldwide and that political participation could undermine their reputation.
