Todric McGee died at 21 after a possible firearm accident

Missouri’s state football player Todric McGree died on Saturday from what the police may have said an accidental self-inflicted gunshot.

The incident occurred on Friday at his home and his body was found after Springfield, Missouri, the police responded to the house for a wellness check.

He died the next morning at the age of 21.

“While I sit and think about the last 24 hours, the thoughts of the contagious smile and the competitive spirit of Todric are the things I see the most,” wrote head coach Ryan Beard in a post X.

“There is no greater honor than being called coach and it is something that we do not take lightly. You look at young people to become men before your eyes and they are part of who you are. You like these guys as your own sons. On behalf of the most elegant football family, we send our biggest condolences to Todric’s family.

“Our football family is in shock and in mourning to the loss of Todric,” said Beard in another press release, via ESPN. “We ask everyone to respect the intimacy of their family and our football team at most while we start the healing process. Join us to pray for Todric and the people who loved them.”

Addition of sports director Patrick Ransdell, “this tragedy has shaken our football program at the heart, and we want them to know that we are here to support them in any way possible at this extremely difficult moment.”

McGee was a departure security for the program each of the last two seasons and was about to enter its fifth year with the program.
