- Ring rolls out new feature to avoid duplicate notifications
- AI Single Alert ensures that you are only notified of a particular event once
- It is available for all existing Ring doorbells and security cameras
Have you ever been annoyed by excessive notifications from your video doorbell or home security camera? Ring has just launched a solution that uses AI to condense related alerts so you only receive one message when an event takes place.
Last June, Ring launched Ring Video Descriptions, which uses AI to identify what triggered your doorbell or camera, and describes it using text so you can see what’s happening at a glance. If you know what’s happening and expected it, you can dismiss the notification without having to watch the recording.
These notifications are fine for something brief, like someone arriving at the door or someone loitering by a window, but they’re not ideal for situations like your kids playing in the garden or a gardener trimming a hedge, which might trigger your camera multiple times.
AI Single Alert goes a step further by analyzing the generated video descriptions and grouping together those that are very similar so that you are not disturbed unnecessarily.
Hit, hit…
AI Single Alert should work much better than Apple Intelligence summaries, which interpreted multiple Ring app alerts to mean multiple people were waiting at the front door.
“When I first installed the beta, maintenance was working at my apartment for a few hours, I gasped when I looked at my phone towards the end of the day and it said ’47 people are outside your door,'” one Reddit user wrote. shortly after the deployment of Apple Intelligence Summaries.
Apple Intelligence makes me think I’m going to have a procedure even though I’ve just walked past my front door multiple times. from r/iphone
AI Single Alert is compatible with all existing Ring doorbells and cameras. It rolled out in the US last month and is now available to Ring Premium subscribers in the UK.
