Travis Hunter aims to add his name to the incredibly short list of NFL bidirectional athletes. While prowess on the 22 -year -old field are undeniable, Hunter also makes the headlines for his talent in class.

Hunter finished its NFL pre-season beginnings with two receptions. He also took some pictures on the defensive side of the ball. But after the victory of Pittsburgh Steelers 31-25 against the Jacksonville jaguars, a large part of the attention turned to the hunter weighted average.

“I think it’s a 3.7 or 3.9,” Hunter told journalists in April.

Hunter was then asked about the mental difficulties that were a double -meaning player. The recruit remained firm in his conviction that he was ready for the task. “That’s all I have to do is play football and go there and study and make sure to understand what I’m doing.”

Double sense players of the NFL were a rarity. Chuck Bednarik was the last full -time bidirectional athlete in the league. Bednarik was an assistant and an offensive line player for the Philadelphia Eagles from 1949 to 1962.

Sammy Baugh and Don Hutson are also notable old double -sense stars. Baugh was a quarter, the defensive back and the bettor. Huston has spent his entire career in the NFL with Green Bay packers, playing the receiver and security. Later, he had a passage as an assistant packers.

The head coach of the first year Jaguars, Liam Coen, liked what he saw Hunter when he aligned himself on the offensive side of the ball. The coach also suggested that there was room for the improvement on the defensive side.

“He made some good sockets on certain option routes and missed the only defensively tackle that I noticed,” said Coen.

“I’m going to have to look at the band on how he operated a little more on the defensive, but I thought offensively, he made the right decisions on these options. Made a good catch, almost out of it where Trevor put him behind this third further, but I will have to go and watch the band a little more to find out more.”

Hunter, who was once a highly sought -after high school recruit, began his career at Jackson State. He then followed the temple of the renown of professional football Deion Sanders in Colorado.

Hunter won the Heisman trophy last December. He delivered a sincere acceptance speech at Lincoln Center in New York, thanking his friends, his teammates and his father.

“I mean something to my father. He is not there. But I know you watch on television,” said the double -sense star. “Dad, I love you. Everything you have experienced, guy. Now look at your eldest son. I did it for you, guy. Whenever you can’t see me, and the moments when you came to see my games. Probably two games in high school to see me on television every weekend and come and see me, guy, that means as long as me.”

In April, the Jaguars used the second global recovery selection to bring Hunter’s talents to Jacksonville. New Orleans’ saints welcome the jaguars on August 18 in the second week of the pre-season action.

The Jaguars welcome Carolina Panthers on September 7 to open the regular season.
