Trump Administration Eyes Blockchain for Foreign Aid in Usaid revising: Report

The Trump Administration is preparing to restructure the American Agency for International Development (USAID) and to integrate blockchain technology into its supply system, said Wired, citing a memo circulating among the staff of the State Department.

The plan proposes to rename the agency as an American international humanitarian aid and to move it directly under the authority of the Secretary of State, said Wired. He would operate a blockchain to draw help distributions and apply payment models according to results rather than entries.

“All distributions would also be secure and traced via blockchain technology to radically increase safety, transparency and traceability,” said memo, adding that such an approach would encourage innovation and efficiency.

It is not clear if the blockchain would imply a use of cryptocurrency or stable, or if it would simply act as a large digital book.

USAID has been under the control of the Trump administration since the creation of the Ministry of Government (DOGE), led by Elon Musk. Doge has in the past has offered the use of blockchain technology to stimulate efficiency. The president froze the payments of the USAID in an executive decree of January 20.
