Between all this, Trump spoke to Emily Austin de Dazn and congratulated FIFA president Gianni Infantino, for assembling the Club World Cup in the United States a year before the World Cup in North America.

“It’s a great thing,” said Trump. “And, you know, Gianni is one of my friends. He has done such a good job with the League and with football, or they would call him football, but I suppose that we call him football. I am not sure that the change can be done very easily, but it’s great and it’s incredible.”

Trump joked by saying that he could sign an executive decree to officially call football, “football” in the United States

“I think we can do it, I think we can do it,” he said.

He was also asked who he thought that the biggest football player of all time was.

Trump returned in the days of the New York cosmos to praise in Pelé.

“Many years ago, when I was young, they brought a player named Pelé to play and he played for a team called The Cosmos … This place was crowded. It was a previous version of this stadium here in the Meadowlands and it was Pelé,” said Trump. “I don’t want to go out with myself, but it was a long time ago. I was a youngster and I came to watch Pelé and he was fantastic, and so I would say that I will probably go older. It’s like saying Babe Ruth, but I would say Pelé was so great.”

Pelé is often considered the greatest football player of all time. The Brazilian scored 569 goals in 583 appearances for Santos in Brazil.
