Shock. The Trump Mobile T1 phone will not be “made in the United States”. We know this because Trump Mobile’s website has discreetly changed the T1 language and now says that the phone will be “American from design”.
It is an interesting turn of sentence, and recalls how Apple describes the creation of its popular iPhone. On the packaging (he was on the devices), he says “designed by Apple in California”. Everyone knows that products are widely assembled elsewhere, often in China, but more and more in India and Vietnam.
For months, US President Donald Trump puts pressure on Apple CEO Tim Cook to build his iPhone in America. Cook offered plans to help move the balance so that some of the work, perhaps a development of fleas, perhaps accommodation for Apple’s intelligence, could occur in the United States, but this was never enough for Trump.
But now, maybe, maybe maybe, Trump will change his air. Even if the president is not directly involved with Trump Mobile or the T1 phone (it is a family business of Trump), he has all the ways of creating a creation by Donald Trump, including the sleeping gold finish and this somewhat bizarre design (why is he so big?). The “made in the US” complaint was not an accident; It is Trump’s entire brand.
The new meat of words on the Mobile Trump site is nothing but entertaining:
“The T1 phone is not only powerful – it has come to life here in the United States. With American hands behind each device, we provide care, precision and quality of confidence in every detail.”
Does “American Hands” collect money on pre-orders? I doubt that it means that anyone who assembles the phone in the United States. There may be an American designer who examined all existing Android 15 smartphones and selected his favorite bits (I give them the credit to include the 3.5 mm headset).
‘Made for America’, more like that
Trump Mobile, however, faces the hard truth of the consumer electronics of the 21st century: almost nothing is built in the United States, and almost all the components necessary to make the phone are made outside the contiguous United States.
As we pointed out a few weeks ago, it was difficult to live until the “Made in the Us” complaint, at best:
“First”, “made in the USA” has a bar. [Federal Trade Commission] To a strict standard for “made in USA”: all or almost all parts and treatment must be domestic. Judging by this standard, the complaint is not realistic. “”
Trump will finally conceded to cook this: “Yes, perhaps, it is not reasonable to demand that you build your iPhone here in America when I can’t even build my own brand phone here in the United States.”
The $ 499 phone has been pre -order for less than two weeks, but I wonder if anyone who was sold on the idea of a modern handset “Made in the USA” asks for the return of his $ 100 deposit.
Will more people are waiting for the phone “later this year” now and that the first opinions appear before buying? This assumes that Trump Mobile offers the phone for examination. For American Tech Media, it means that Trump Mobile will have to understand how to bring the phone to the United States first.
