President Donald Trump delivered the opening speech to Alabama University on Thursday evening and easily won the crowd.
Trump dominated the state in last year’s elections, so he already had an advantage of the home crowd, but he won bonus points by speaking strongly about school’s sports programs.
The president called the university “special place … where legends are made”.

Trump also shouted the male basketball team that reached its first Final Four in the history of the program.
“Not only is Alabama a big football school, but it is now one of the best basketball schools in the country,” he said.
Trump also praised the female track team, which won the dry, before promising that transgender athletes will not participate in the sports of girls and women.
The football team has lost the connequest bowl against Michigan, its second consecutive defeat of the bowl against the Wolverines, which beat them in Rose Bowl en route to the 2024 national championship.
