US President Donald Trump launched immediate and widespread condemnation on Friday February 6, after posting a video on his Truth social platform.
The video shows former US President Barack Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama as monkeys.
The minute-long video, which spreads the false conspiracy theory that election company Dominion Voting Systems helped steal the election, ends with a two-second clip showing the Obamas’ smiling faces transformed into monkey faces dancing to music.
The Dominion Company reportedly settled a $787.5 million defamation case against the news agency. Fox News.
That message was among more than 60 social media posts Trump made overnight.
Before facing negative public reactions, this project was appreciated a thousand times by Trump supporters.
Several American political and media figures have condemned Trump’s behavior.
California Governor Gavin Newsom said: “Disgusting behavior, every Republican must call it out. Now.”
Political strategist Adam Parkhomenko wrote: “This is blatant racism. Period… It’s who he is.”
The incident brings overtly racist images back to the center of American political discourse, sparking outrage over the targeting of the country’s first black family. Trump’s prodigious social media session also featured republished lies about the 2020 election, as well as his suggestion that his image be added to Mount Rushmore.
