A pair of high-level South African golfers was thrown into a White House exchange on Wednesday.
Ernie Els and Retief Goosen joined Cyril Ramaphosa, the president of South Africa, for a meeting at the Oval Office with President Donald Trump.
While the meeting between the two leaders took a cordial start, the meeting content took a notable turn when Trump confronted Ramaphosa with a video that has shown a serious treatment of white farmers. Trump also presented to Ramaphosa documents which, according to him, were reports of murders of “thousands” of Afrikaners.
Ramaphosa offered several refusals to complaints and clearly indicated that the declarations made in the videos were not representative of the policies of his government. Els and Goosen were then introduced into the discussion.
