President Donald Trump announced earlier this month that he would attend the New York Yankees match against Strait Tigers in the 24th anniversary of the September 11 attacks.

Trump has attended many sporting events over the years, but has not attended a baseball match during his second term.

In 2019, Trump, then during his first mandate as president, attended match 5 of the World Series between the Nationals of Washington and the Astros of Houston in the national capital. He also attended the World Series between the Astros and the Braves of Atlanta in 2021, about a year after losing the 2020 elections against former President Joe Biden.

Trump said in 2020 that he had to throw the first throw in a Yankees match, but it never happened due to a “strong accent” on the pandemic.

The Yankees urged fans for Thursday’s match to “budget the additional time for the entry due to improved safety measures at all the entries of the Yankee stadium”. Gates usually opens an hour and a half before the first throw, but Thursday, Gates will open at 4 p.m. e. for the 7:05 p.m. match.

Fans have also been encouraged to take public transport due to street closings and additional limitations on what would be authorized inside the stadium.

The world of sport reacts to Charlie Kirk’s ball death: “Prayers for his family”

Security can be even more stimulated following the assassination of Charlie Kirk Wednesday in Utah. The Yankees honored Kirk with a moment of silence of hours later.

Trump will attend the match after talking to the Pentagon for a ceremony on September 11. Vice-president JD Vance was in Lower Manhattan earlier during the day.

There will be pre-match ceremonies to honor the victims and heroes of the attacks. We don’t yet know how or if Trump will participate.

The Yankees have lost each of the first two games in this series against Detroit while they are fighting for an Al East title, while the Tigers run away with the Central.
