The Minnesota twins leave manager Rocco Baldelli, who has spent the last seven seasons to lead the club.

Baldelli won three central titles from the American League with Minnesota, but after consecutive disappointing years, the team is heading in a new direction.

“It is a difficult day because of what Rocco represents for so many people here,” said Twins president Derek Falvey in a statement. “He led with honesty, integrity and an unwavering commitment to our players and our staff. He completely gave himself to this role and I have enormous respect and gratitude for the way he worked and the way he presented himself every day.”

The Minnesota was to face the crown of the division again, but finished 70-92. On the deadline for trade, twins have become large sellers, separating from players such as Carlos Correa, Harrison Bader, Willi Castro and Ty France.

The enclosure of the lifts also took a major success, with Jhoan Duran closer – treated at the Philadelphia Phillies – at the head of the headlining of five lifts which were moved.

In total, Minnesota exchanged 10 players and reduced $ 26 million in salary. They went 19-35 after the deadline, their worst arrival since 2016, and ended with the fourth largest MLB record.

Baldelli, 44, began his strong mandate, winning the manager of the year 2019 as a recruited skipper. He also guided the Twins towards a victory in the playoffs in 2023, taking the sequence of 18 games in the club’s playoffs and winning his first victory in the playoff series since 2002.

He finished with a 527-505 file in seven seasons.

The twins are also faced with challenges out of the field. Attendance has dropped to its lowest non -pandemic level since 2000, with just over 1.7 million tickets sold on Target Field.

Fans expressed their frustration because of the property. The Pohlad family began to reduce costs after the promising season of 2023 and put the franchise on sale last year. In August, they reversed the course, choosing to keep the majority control while using new investors to help repay the debt.

“Over the past seven years, Rocco has been much more than our manager. He has been a trusted partner and a teammate for me to lead this organization,” said Falvey. “Together, we shared a deep care for the twins, for our players and our staff, and so that everything is in our power to put this club in the best position to succeed.”
