The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested two suspects, including the head of a gang which allegedly involved in the kidnapping and torture of a Pakistani citizen in Turkey. According to officials, the repression of human trafficking was carried out under the directives of the Director General of the FIA Ahmed Ishaq Jahangir. The FIA anti-human trafficking circle in Abbottabad made a Haripur raid, arresting two "Notorious human traffickers, Muhammad Shehzad and Ghulam Farooq". The officials said that Shehzad was on the most advanced list for human smuggling and had been identified as a partner of Zahid Khan, another trafficker operating in Türkiye. Shehzad, as well as his accomplices, sent a Pakistani citizen to Türkiye, where he was selected hostage and brutally tortured. The reports indicate that the traffickers went so far as to remove the victim’s nails while demanding the ransom of his family. The gang attracted people without mistrust with promises of employment abroad, to keep them captive when they arrive. Ghumlam Farooq, one of the arrested suspects, directed a travel agency without license. The authorities have recovered three passports and other evidence of the suspects, which were also found guilty of having frauds people on millions of rupees.
