- Details of the iPhone 17 processor and RAM have disclosed
- All the rumors that we have seen do not agree on these specifications
- The handsets should be revealed in September
It is likely that we are only a few months old from the launch of the iPhone 17, and we now have a new leak listing two of the key specifications of the basic model – although only one will be set to upgrade the iPhone 16.
According to analyst Jeff Pu (via 9TO5MAC), the standard iPhone 17 will get an upgrade to a new A19 chip, alongside the iPhone 17 air. Meanwhile, the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max will go to A19 Pro.
This is good news, because PU had previously predicted that the iPhone 17 of the basic model would stick to the same A18 chip which is currently inside the iPhone 16. It is a tip that Apple also withdrew in 2022 with the iPhone 14 series.
There is a case to do so that modern iPhones are more than faster for most users for most tasks, and perhaps stick to an older chip would mean a price drop in iPhone 17 – but it only seems that the A18 chip is reused.
While he has now thought that an upgrade of the chipset will occur, he also reiterated that the standard iPhone 17 will have 8 GB of RAM, corresponding to the iPhone 16. All other models in the series will be apparently increased to 12 GB.
Previous rumors had suggested that the iPhone 17 would join the iPhone 17 air, the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max having more ram than their predecessors, but this last report seems to launch a significant doubt on this subject.
More RAM would mean more space for reflection for Apple Intelligence, and it seems strange that the iPhone 17 respects 8 GB while the air of the iPhone 17 obtains 12 GB. Nothing is official however until Apple announces these handsets.
The reliable Apple Tipster and Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman predicted that the iPhone 17 series will obtain his great unveiling on Tuesday September 9 or Wednesday September 10, and we will of course keep you informed of more leaks and rumors before that.
