Peshawar:
The regional reference laboratory for the eradication of polio at the National Institute of Health (NIH) has confirmed two new cases of poliovirus in the south of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, District Tank and northern Waziristan.
According to a statement published here on Tuesday, recent cases of Polio include a 16-month-old girl from the Union Mullazai Council, of the Tank Tank, and a 24-month-old girl from the Miran Shah-3 Council, North Waziristan District.
With these detections, the total number of polio cases in Pakistan in 2025 reached 23 – including 15 KP, six of the Sindh and one from Punjab and Gilgit -Baltistan.
Despite significant progress, continuous detection of polio cases, especially in southern KP, remains a serious concern.
However, the National and Provincial Centers of Emergency Operations (EOC) take all possible measures to ensure the implementation of high -quality vaccination campaigns, the press release added.
