A district and sessions court in Lahore has indicted two accused in the Ameer Balaj Tipu murder case.
Additional Sessions Justice Asad Hafeez heard the case and indicted the accused, Haroon and Sohail Mehmood. The court summoned witnesses to testify on February 11.
Gogi Butt, Teefi Butt and Bilawal were declared absconders and excluded from the case. The Chuhung police station had registered the case against the accused.
On February 19, 2024, Ameer Balaj Tipu, the son of Tipu Truckanwala, was killed in a shootout during a wedding ceremony on Lahore Multan Road.
Two others were injured. Amir Balaj Tipu’s gunman returned fire, killing the attacker, Muzaffar Hussain, on the spot.
The attack happened when Ameer Balaj Tipu was leaving the wedding venue while people were busy taking selfies with him.
Earlier, the Lahore Police discovered surprising details in the murder case of Javed Butt, brother-in-law of Teefi Butt, the prime suspect in the Ameer Balaj murder case.
According to DIG Organized Crime, Imran Kishwar, the arrested shooters revealed during interrogation that the murder was carried out at the behest of Ameer Masab, son of Tipu Truckanwala.
The shooters, identified as Azhar and Ilyas, confessed that the killing was a contract killing for which they were promised Rs 500,000 and two valuable houses.
The suspects admitted to being in contact with Ameer Masab before and after the murder. The link was allegedly established through Arif, a former Ameer Masab employee and Pattoki resident, who arranged a meeting between the shooters and Masab. Arif, however, remained at large.
Ameer Masab had fled the country six days before Javed Butt’s murder, apparently as part of a premeditated plan. Although he left Pakistan, he remained in contact with the shooters throughout the execution of the crime, police sources confirmed.
