Peshawar:
Two polio workers were removed by armed attackers in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Tank district on Monday during an ongoing anti-political vaccination campaign.
According to the police, the victims were identified as Sifatullah (Comnet staff) and Hizbullah, worker of the voluntary polio. They exercised their functions when the incident took place in Jandola’s tribal subdivision.
The district administration condemned the kidnapping and a case was registered against unknown perpetrators. A research operation was launched to locate and safely recover the kidnapped workers.
The removal and attacks on polio workers are serious concerns, especially in the tribal areas of Pakistan. Polio workers and their safety escorts have often been targeted, especially in KP and Balutchistan.
